ASW Hewison Foundation charity golf day raises (almost) $50,000!

On Friday 19th April 2024, a record field of 118 golfers took to the iconic sand belt golf course of Woodlands and collectively raised almost $50,000 for the Hewison Foundation. This incredible fundraising achievement is almost double previous fundraising efforts from the foundation’s major fundraising event of the year. This would not have been possible without the amazing support of our loyal sponsors and generous players – we are immensely grateful.
Ambrose was the format of the day and in true Melbourne style we went from warm sun to showers and cool breezes. The sun did return and with that so too did the player’s A-games. This year, we saw the creativity of our sponsors shine through with clever on course activations with polaroid competitions, personality profiling and marshmallow madness in between drives. We’d like to say a massive thank you to our very first naming rights sponsor, ASW, our platinum sponsor Ark Capital, our gold and silver sponsors and all who participated in the day for their generous contributions in the spirit of fundraising.
The day is certainly not about performance, however please join us in congratulating our winners on a terrific game of golf:
Winning Team: Marcus English, Daniel Barnes, Steve Colliver, Don Glendinning
19.25 nett and 52.75 total nett
Second Place: Chris Morcom, Jay Fereday, Steve Roche, Mark Farrugia
18.88 nett and 53.12 total nett
Longest Drive: Nathan Cohen – 270m with a 3 wood!
Putting competition: Brenton Humphries coming as close as 8cm!
Nearest the Pin (5th hole): Chris Colman
Nearest the Pin (17th hole): Tim Brazzale
Commenting on the success of the day Hewison Foundation director, Chris Morcom said “The 2024 ASW Hewison Foundation Golf Day held at Woodlands Golf Club on Friday 19th April has been the most successful fundraising event we have run to date. With funds raised approaching $50,000, the generosity of sponsors and attendees means the foundation will be able to increase its grants next year. We are especially thankful to naming rights sponsor AS White for their support of the day. Thank you also to those who attended and contributed to not only the fundraising but also to the successful comradery of the day. The foundation extends its thanks to the organising committee without whom the day would not have been such a success.”
About the Hewison Foundation
The Hewison Foundation was established in 2015 by the directors of Hewison Private Wealth, with the purpose of helping to break the cycle of disadvantage and improve the lives of others. The Hewison Foundation continues to expand their philanthropic efforts through the provision of grants and charitable donations to an array of charities and not for profit organisations. More recently, the Foundation board invited nominations from Hewison Private Wealth team members for charities to support that they were passionate about or had a personal experience with.
With that said, the Hewison Foundation recently made donations of $10,500 each to C Care, a St Kilda food-based charity that provides personalised food security, friendship, and meals to those in need, and Pancare for research into upper GI cancer. We look forward to receiving grant nominations for the year ahead from the Hewison Private Wealth team.
As a Public Ancillary Fund, the Hewison Foundation can accept donations from the public, all donations over $2 can be claimed as a tax deduction to the donor.
